Kosovo’s NDS 2016-2021 launched today

The Government of Kosovo launched today the National Development Strategy (NDS) 2016-2021, a document of major importance which is expected to have an impact on job creation and improvement of living standards for the people of Kosovo. Addressing the gather public at the Swiss Diamond Hotel in Pristina, Prime Minister Isa Mustafa, and EU Special Representative Samuel Žbogar, praised the adoption of this long-awaited document and the strong commitment shown by the Kosovo institutions. Funded by the European Union (EU), this is one of the key instruments to have come out of the two-year long technical assistance provided by DADA6 to the Office for Strategic Planning (OSP) of the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) as part of the “Support to Kosovo’s Policy and Strategic Planning” project, initiated in February 2014. The document was prepared under the leading and coordinating role of the OSP of the OPM, which included a consultative process with all relevant state mechanisms and key stakeholders. We are honored to have been part of this major strategy which sets the “priorities of priorities” for Kosovo’s social and economic development. Specifically, we have supported the Government through the development of policy notes related to strategy’s four pillars – Human Capital, Rule of Law, Competitiveness, and Infrastructure, and 36 priorities corresponding to the areas which will serve as a framework for the orientation of Kosovo’s development policies in the years ahead.
